R36S Preinstalled Game Library
The included collection spans generations of Nintendo, Sega, Sony, arcade and other classic systems. Smaller cartridge games require very little storage, while PlayStation, Dreamcast, PSP and Nintendo DS libraries consume considerably more space.
Because R36S MicroSD images are not standardized worldwide, an online game list cannot guarantee that every title will be present on every 64GB or 128GB unit. How To Add ROMs To Your R36S
Do not simply place ROMs anywhere on the MicroSD card. ArkOS uses specific folders for each console. The game must be copied into the folder belonging to the system that originally runs it.
Turn the console off completely before removing a MicroSD card. Avoid removing a card while ArkOS is running.
Insert the ROM MicroSD card into your computer. On a standard ArkOS setup, look for the partition or drive named EASYROMS.
A GBA game goes into gba, an N64 game into n64, a PS1 game into psx, and so on. Do not create a random folder and expect ArkOS to detect it.
Copy the supported game file, safely eject the MicroSD card, return it to the R36S and start the console. Refresh or restart EmulationStation if the new game does not immediately appear.
Where Exactly Should Each ROM Go?
These are the important ArkOS folder names for the systems most R36S owners use. Folder names matter.
ArkOS builds its system menus around expected directory names. For example, placing a Game Boy Advance ROM in a folder named “my games” will not automatically make it appear under Game Boy Advance. Keep the existing EASYROMS folder structure and place each game inside the folder assigned to its original system. Do not delete existing directories simply because they appear empty.
How To Add ROM Hacks To R36S
ROM hacks work much like normal games once the patch has been applied correctly. The key distinction is that a patch file is usually not a playable ROM.
Use a clean dump of a game you are legally entitled to use. The ROM hack documentation normally specifies the exact version or region required.
Files such as .IPS, .BPS, .UPS or .xdelta are normally patch files rather than games. Apply the patch to the required base ROM on your computer.
Once patched, copy the resulting playable ROM into the folder for its original console. For example, a GBA hack normally belongs inside EASYROMS/gba/.
ArkOS includes a dedicated EASYROMS/snes-hacks/ folder for SNES hacks. You can use this to keep modified SNES games separate from the regular SNES library.
Where Do BIOS Files Go?
Some emulated systems require firmware or BIOS files in addition to the actual game ROM.
Main BIOS Folder
ArkOS normally expects BIOS files inside the BIOS directory of the ROM storage partition.
If your R36S uses a separate second MicroSD card for games, the BIOS directory normally belongs on that ROM card.
Do Not Put BIOS Files With Random Games
Some systems require specific BIOS filenames or subfolders. For example, Dreamcast firmware uses a dedicated directory under the BIOS structure. Always follow the requirements for the emulator you are configuring.
